When a family loses a loved one, grief is
overwhelming enough on its own. The last thing
a bereaved family should face is financial burden
on top of their sorrow.
This is the problem that Ekamuthu Youth Organization
set out to solve from its very first day — and it
remains the most important service we provide to
our community.
Our Death Donation Fund is not just a financial
program. It is a promise. A promise that when
the darkest moment arrives in any member's
family, the entire Ekamuthu community will
stand beside them.
## What is the Ekamuthu Death Donation Fund?
The Death Donation Fund is Ekamuthu Youth
Organization's primary mutual welfare service —
providing financial assistance to member families
when they lose a loved one.
When a registered Ekamuthu member or an immediate
family member of a member passes away, the
organization provides a financial donation to
help the family cover funeral costs, travel
expenses and immediate financial needs during
their time of grief.
This is not charity. This is community — every
member contributing together so that no family
in our village ever has to face bereavement
completely alone.
## Why This Service Matters So Much
In Sri Lanka's village communities, the passing
of a family member brings not only emotional
devastation but also significant financial
pressure.
Funeral arrangements, almsgiving ceremonies,
travel costs for relatives and the immediate
loss of income for families who depended on the
deceased can create a financial crisis at the
worst possible time.
For many families in our community — hardworking,
honest families who have little financial cushion
— this pressure can push them into debt, stress
and hardship that lasts for months or even years
after the loss.
The Ekamuthu Death Donation Fund exists to
prevent exactly this from happening.
## How It Works
The principle is beautifully simple — and
profoundly powerful.
Every Ekamuthu member contributes to the
collective fund. When any member or their
immediate family faces a bereavement, the
fund provides financial support — quickly,
with dignity, and with no conditions attached.
No lengthy applications. No waiting. No
bureaucracy. Just community support delivered
at the moment it is needed most.
This is the true meaning of mutual welfare —
and it is the founding purpose of Ekamuthu
Youth Organization.
## The Impact in Our Community
Since Ekamuthu Youth Organization was established,
the Death Donation Fund has provided vital support
to multiple member families across our village
community in Galmukalana, Dunagaha.
Families who received this support have shared
how much it meant to them — not just the
financial relief, but the knowledge that their
community cared enough to show up for them in
their darkest hour.
One member shared:
"When we lost our father, we did not know how
we would manage everything. The support from
Ekamuthu meant we could focus on grieving and
honoring our father properly, without the stress
of financial worry. We will never forget that."
This is exactly why the Death Donation Fund
exists. And this is exactly why we will never
stop strengthening it.

## A Community That Stands Together
At Ekamuthu Youth Organization, we believe
that the measure of a community is not how
it celebrates in good times — but how it
shows up in the worst of times.
The Death Donation Fund is our most sacred
commitment to every member family in
Galmukalana and Dunagaha — a commitment
that says simply and powerfully:
*You are not alone. We are Ekamuthu.
We stand together.*
Under the spiritual guidance of our revered
Chief Patron, Rev. Induragare Dammarathana
Thero, Senior Professor at the University
of Kelaniya, this fund continues to grow
stronger with every passing year — a true
testament to the generosity, compassion and
unity of our community.
